Default Need help with my amp

I have an Apline MRA-F350 5 channel amp. Ive had it for about a year and it worked perfectly fine. However, while I was driving today it just shut off. All the lights are on along with a red light. I read tha manual and this is what it says.

Lights Red:
Protection circuit activated due to excessive voltage or current, shutting down system.

Solution:
Ensure correct voltage is applied before continuing use.

or

Ensure correct current is applied before continuing use.

Anybody know what I should do from here?

By the way, it only shuts off when I turn up the volume on my HU. When it plays quietly it works fine.
Thanks

Check your ground. Be sure there are no shorts in any of the other wires.
