Default dynamat is a riiiip offfff!!!!!!!!

I went to price dm out last night and it was something like $40 for 4 sq. ft. I was like forget that! So I go to home depot in search of similar products and some styrofoam for fiberglass stuff later. I found some gutter guard that is just about identical. Sticky rubber/butyl material on one side and reflective foil like material on the other side. it comes in 6" rolls, so it will be easier to work with, plus you get 6x more material for half the cost!!!! Like $15 for a 25' roll at 6" wide. I could do my whole car for $30. Has anyone found something similar?

oh, extra bonus~ since it is gutter guard, it is waterproof too....mmmmmm

There are many alternatives to using dynamat. Yes it is quite costly. I frequent elitecaraudio.com forums and if you go there do a search on deadeners. There are alot out there that do the same and cost much less.

i am an authorized distrubuter for IXOS products. they have a product called quiet zone its the same thing as any others. for less than 1/2 that 40 price for a 4.5 sq foot sheet.
we also have 2 other types of mat. if weight is an issue for you we also carry an upper line mat that is made from thermal plastic that weighs about 1/2 the regular stuff. and another line above that that is aluminum backed.
we also carry the spray so you can apply it into places you cant get to with the mat.

also if you know anything about IXOS products you should know that they are some of the highest quality wire, RCA's, connectors in the industry. better than monster, stinger, ect... only the highend shops use IXOS.

yup, rubber roofing membrane is basically the same thing... and its stickier... so make sure you want it there before you apply it.

www.parts-express.com has 'no name' dampening sheets for like $17 for a 3'x4.5' sheet.

BTW, where did gutter guard come in while talking about dynamat and fiberglass?? Yes, it will stand up to weather, but its kinda flimsy and it tarnishes over time... if you use it, give it a few coats of clear coat first.
