Omega UltiMate AL-101 alarm - anyone familiar?
Hello,
I recently bought a 2002 Accord EX from an independent dealer, who in turn purchased the car at an auction. It did not even have the remotes for the factory security system; I had to obtain those separately. I later discovered that the car has an aftermarket system installed on top of the factory system, and when I finally located the brain box, it had the name "Omega R&D" on it, the model "UltiMate AL-101", and a web site, www.caralarm.com, stamped. The car also, not surprisingly, did not come with any remotes for the aftermarket alarm. I have checked the web site and found nothing about this particular system, probably because it's too old. I contacted them via a contact form on their web site, but have not heard back yet. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to find some info on this particular system. I'd like to remove it if possible, and just stick with the factory system (unless I can find transmitters for it). Most of what it does to augment the factory system is actually OK, but there is one major annoyance for me: If I use either the key itself, or the factory remote, to open the trunk without first unlocking the doors with the remote, it sets the alarm off. This is a particular problem for me, because my wife and I are SCUBA divers and I carry a spare key (one without the ignition kill chip) when we go in the water, and lock the transmitter, etc. in the trunk. I'd rather not have to set the alarm off each time we come back from a dive, nor do I want to have to put the aftermarket system into Valet Mode each time.
Also, I have noticed the following characteristics and am wondering if anyone can tell me which are part of the factory system, and which are the aftermarket system:
Any input will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Also, I have noticed the following characteristics and am wondering if anyone can tell me which are part of the factory system, and which are the aftermarket system:
- After unlocking the doors, if no door is opened for about 30-45 seconds, the system re-arms itself
- Opening the trunk with the key or the factory remote before unlocking the doors sets off the alarm
- Horn chirps twice when disarming, once when arming (I hope this is factory; I'd hate to lose that!)
- One press of the unlock button unlocks only the driver's door; second press unlocks all
Any input will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I cant really help you...but if you want to get rid of that annoyance, you can always disable the trunk feature but taking out the alarm wire that triggers from the trunk opening. Of course, that completely gets ride of security of the trunk.

True (hopefully), but the problem is, and I forgot to mention this, I have no documentation whatsoever on this system, so I wouldn't know how to disable the trunk feature. I may need to take it to an alarm specialist...
