Default subs work periodically

i recently bought a package from spx audio that includes a 400 watt amp and two 10 inch subs. i hooked it all up and i get nothing but extremely random bumps (when i say random i mean it hits maybe 8 times a day) it is hooked in to a clarion drx6575z, which has been giving me trouble reciently (by not playing cds) should i replace the head unit or return the package all together?

I'd take care of the head unit problem first. I'm not saying the unit is why your subs have a problem, but it's always best to take care of the problems you know you have first and then troubleshoot the mystery ones just so you can eliminate any other guesses.
