Default What if I DONT cut the wires on the tach?

Ok, I got a bum EX with no Tach. I am flat broke so asked my Dad if he had any aftermarket tachs lying around (Domestic drag racer in his day). He lent me one off of his drag car (66 Chevy Nova SS). Anyways, its a monster tach (NO, I dont want a giant tach on a stock car, but I need a tach) and in the instructions it says for 4cyl cars to snip two wires. I'm not gonna keep the tach and will give it back when I can afford one.
Geez, finally the question...

What will happen if I DONT cut those 2 wires? Will the tach work at all? Any idea how much it would be off?

Thanks

I have an accord EX tachometer... works just fine, just the holes around the small screws are a little messed up due to a indiglo fitment problem... If you want it i'll give it to you for $30 shipped.... email me if you are interested and I can take a pic of it.

How can a tach be a waste of money? If its manual transmission dont you like being able to see what RPM youre at? There may be certain tachs that might be a waste of money depending on application (to some, not others), but I dont think having a tach is a waste.

if you're a good driver you don't need a tach. you can FEEL what rpm your car is at

BTW - either you don't have an EX, or somebody swapped your cluster out, because ALL EX's have TACHS.

look at your engine code. it it's D16Z6, you have an EX. if it's anything other than that - you don't got an EX

Well it is an EX, I know that. VIN says so along with all power accessories and sunroof. If the cluster was switched I dont know but oh well. Cant do anything about it now. I'm looking for another cluster with what I need.
