Default Rear Door Oddy Question

I put a new deck in my 1995 Oddy and put a set of 3-ways in the front doors and I'm trying to figure out what to put in the rear doors. I would like the rear door speakers to be geared more towards bass since the front handle most of the high-end. I was thinking of getting a set of Pioneer Component speakers and just use the 6.5" one-way's for the rear doors. Would this work? I'm not familiar with what "component" are or if they will work without using the little tweeters. Any suggestions?

Component sets are a woofer and a tweeter with a seperate crossover to direct higher frequencies to the tweeter and lower frequencies to the woofer. they tend to cost more as well. i would suggest a midbass driver style speaker, which is basically the woofer from a component set, or getting similar style speakers to what you have in the front and adding a 4channel amp.

another option of course would be to get a 4channel amp, power your fronts, and find a nice 8-10" woofer and run it off of the other 2 channels of the amp.

So if I bought just the woofer from a component system would it connect to the speaker wires in my door just like a 2-way or such that I'd buy at the store?

component speakers usually require an amp.

You can run the speakers from the deck yes, but to get some reasonable sq, you really do need an external amp like Jani said.

here are some midbass speakers for refrence
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i...s-drivers.html
...i've never ordered from that site, but i like to use it to look at and compare different audio components so i know what i want to listen to when i go to the shops.

if an external amp is an option for your fronts and rears, my .02 personally likes the Alpine MRP-F250

Thanks again for all your help. Yeah I guess to use a midbass I'd probably have to get an amp.

A lot crossovers from component sets direct a full range signal to the midbass.

Are you planning to run a sub? Or do you just some bass without a sub? When you say 3 ways do you mean a component set or are they something like this:

As of right now I'm just replacing the factory door speakers (4) but in the future I hope to get a subwoofer but can't right now because in the rear where the seat goes into the floor it for SOME REASON (grrrrrrrr) gets totally soaked when it rains.

My father pulled a pair of Infinity Reference out of an Oddy trade-in so I'm gonna try those for the rear doors. I know Infinity home speakers are excellent so I assume they could handle anything my 50wx4 deck could throw at em.

Yeah if you have them might as well throw them in. Just fyi decks are actually can do about 20 w or so x 4. They 50 w claimed by just about every deck is highly inflated. If you need more vol I would high suggest an amp. I would suggest an amp regardless actually.
