over current

Default over current

I put a sony xplod amp in the wifes honda and its been playing her subs for about 7 months trouble free and now when its turned on it lights up the overcurrent light and won't play at all. What does this mean.

Double check your connections again. Maybe the input and speaker output wires are loose.

sounds like the amp has blown the output stage transistors. sony amps have a reputation for not lasting very long if you push them hard or over heat them.

your only other option is really the wiring(which i doubt). but how hard are you pushing the amp(whats the impedance load) and what can the amp handle? theres a small chance that the load is too low and you're just pushing too much current. its worth checking.
