Would a Blaupunkt Monterrey MP35 head unit be better than the sony gt300? I listen to rap and hip hop mostly and am going to run an amp to the four speakers the another amp for two subs. Which head unit would work best for me?

 

I've never been a fan of Blaupunkt, but if you're running amps the HU won't make tons of difference. What you want to look for is high preout voltage levels, 3 pairs of preouts, the ability to turn the internal amplifier off, user friendly.

Again, two brands come to mind. Pioneer and Alpine.

All the regular Pioneer decks are the same, sorry to beak it to ya.

Most amps don't have the capability to take advantage of an 8V preout, wasted energy.

 

Premiers add more output voltage and a 3 yr warranty.

You HU makes alot of difference. What kind of options do you want? Tons of eq/dsp/crossovers etc?

For all practical purposes, 3 pairs of prepouts, decent preout voltage and adjustable EQ's are all he'll need. It will also help to be able to turn the internal amp off.

if the amp cannot handle 8V input, then paying extra for a HU with 8V pre outs is pointless.
