Default box size?

Hey, I've got one 12" alpine type r sub (swr-1222d), and I need to know how big the box needs to be for it to sound the best. How much area should I have inside of the box for the sub?

also, would you recommend a ported or sealed box for this sub?

Thanks

I dont know off of the top of my head, but you can go to http://www.alpine-usa.com/ and find out from the spec sheet. Or it should say in your manual. From the displacement, you can figure out how you want the dimentions.

2.5 cubic feet net. tuning depends on what you are going for. are you looking for spl, sq, a little in between?

you definitely want to port if you are going with the Rs.

Whered you get that number? Isnt that a little large for a box for a single 12? Is that for a sealed box? If thats for a ported one, what port volume are you looking at?

The manual states much less.

2-2.5 NET, ported, is about right for an alpine type r 12, the newer version of course. try 2 cubes if you're going sealed.

2.5 ported is a little big for one 12" i would think, that's if you already took out the port volume. i would guess that number doesn't include subtracted port volume.
