Default Sound Deadening

I have an accord 2001 Ex and I was just wondering if anyone has tried putting sound deadening materials in. Does it make quite a difference? Right now i have a 12in sub in my trunk and it rattles quite a bit. Would something like acoustamax or dynomax soung deadening stuff help resolve this? Any help is appreciated.

Do a search on "sound deadening". It has been covered a few times and I remember there to be info that would be useful to you.

But basically any sound deadening will help on our Hondas. Still you have to isolate the rattle and attack it from there.

I bought two packages of Dynamat for my car. They run about $100 a piece and two is more than enough for your whole car. It requires that you remove your door panels and apply it to the body itself but let me tell you it works wonders. It stops most rattling and intensifies your bass. It also gives you crisper audio sound overall. As for individual pieces that may rattle, do it the ghetto way: fold up a piece of paper/cardboard and wedge it in between! Looks dumb but sounds great!:bigok:

I bought 2 "door kits" from best buy for $95 each. This was enough to cover both doors, my trunk, and I still have some leftover for my rear panels but Ive never gotten around to it. As long as youre smart about how you cut it and where you apply it, 2 door kits should def be enough for most compact cars

Thats not your whole car though.2 door packs is 20 square feet, next time shop here http://www.cardomain.com/shoplist~b~...ng+Accessories

Same kit 60 bucks if you want to do the whole car ya gotta get the wedge kit my car took about 60 square feet that did the whole car (all panels trunk, doors, floor. I even doubled up on the doors, minus the fire wall cause i didn't want it to melt.

Ya gotta do the floor boards other wise there was no point in doing the doors as the road noise hasn't been dampend in the slightest. The only reason ya do the trunk is so it reflects the sound waves better other wise you lose SQ through the body of the trunk.

lol noway dude you skimped hard on the doors didn't ya that kit is so you can do the whole door. Just wondering how much of the trunk u did? I'm betting u might have gotten the trunk lid maybe, If u do the whole trunk it'll sound even better.

Prep the surface by giving it a good clean. The mat needs something dirt and oil free to stick onto. I use Goo Gone. After that, just stick it on the sheet metal, and with whatever you have access to, roll it onto the metal tightly. You can use a roller, or even the handle of a screw driver.

Don't waste your money on Dynamat Original kits. You pay for the name.

You can get similar or better-performing products cheaper. Check the following:
- Damplifier at www.secondskinaudio.com
- RAAMmat BXT at www.raamaudio.com
- eDead v1SE at www.edesignaudio.com
