How do I remove and Install new deck?
Hello Everyone...
I am trying to remove the old OEM radio/CD player out of my 2000 Honda Civic 4DR Sedan.
The thing is....when I spilced and connected the wire harness that came with the new deck, it recives no POWER at all. I am pretty sure that all my connections are secure and correct because I reffered to www.the12volt.com 's Vehicle wiring database for the wire color codes. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
I have checked the fuse behind the new deck and it seems very good. I haven't checked the fuse inside the car 'cause I don't know which one it is...? I don't know what is going on but...any help could be nice!!!
I used heatshrink for my connections and am pretty sure that they are nice and tight.
2000 Honda Civic 4dr Sedan.
The new headunit is a Panasonic CQ something... its CD/MP3

If you did a little reading before splicing into your oem harness... you would have read that a mating harness connector would have been easier to use, allowed you to keep the oem harness intact, and reduce the chance of errors in wiring, like the one you have now.

im not exactly sure which connector the 2000 civic has...
the wiring code you got from 12v matches the older connector (which is longer and flatter than the one above. if you ahve that one, post back and ill look for the diagram for that one

You really should purchase the proper connectors from Metra to complete this type of installation, things could go seriously wrong if you fail to connect a wire or connect on to the wrong one, a 15.00 purchase > ECU Burnout IMO

I connected the OEM plug back and bought a wiring adapter. I am now connected thru that and it still doesn't work.
I found a blown fuse and i did replace that. but still doesn't work

test the yellow wire for constant pwr, using the grn supplied in the harness.
thest the red wire for accesory pwr, using same groung again bot should read 12volt or around that give or take, if its less you have a bad connection, bad ground or a bad fuse that still is reading contnuity (sp)
if all else fail creat your own ground.
are you sure you didnt blue the radio?
To quick test
connect both the red and yellow wires together and then place the black wire to the NEG side of bat, then the coupled red and yellow to the POS+ side of battery, press pwr button, radio should lite up.
If it does go for the connection inside the car looking for same result.
-good luck

I haven't had a chance to test the wires. I will post the results as soon as I can.
Everything else is working, except for the CD. I mean the 12volt plug-in right under the CD. It is coming from the same wire too.
What color is the 12volt fuse? and can you give me a lil more describtion about where it is... what side...? drivers or passenger side... what should i look for...? the one next to the battery?
