There are a couple ways you can go about.

1st run a continuity test and verify that you have a short.

2nd follow the wire from the speaker mount till it enters the cabin, wright down the colors of the wires for the right and left side. Then pull the stereo remove the (speaker wire only) your replacing from the harness . Then its a matter of runing the new wire to the speaker mount and wireing them to the harness.

Or install an amp much better then screwing with the wiring harness, less chance of screwing up your electrical. Both are pretty easy though.

How old is your car? Its hard to get a short in your speaker wire.

thanks that sounds good. i think im going to give it a try. i know there is something wrong with my wireing...

its a 94 accord lx. reasons why i beleive its the wireing. only one side works, when you open the passanger side then that speaker works. my dome light doesnt turn on when the door is open. my dash always shows that my passanger front door is open. the car used to have an alarm and it still has wires for it. so could be something eles. its not a major problem, just bugs me u kno...

I agree go with the Pioneers. I wouldn't pay that much on 6.5's I have four 4 ways I bought from a co worker brand new still in box for $40 Love them in my 91 Civic. I'm going to swith them to my Teg & get some Kenwoods for Civic
