Is my amp dead ?
does this happen only when u blast up the subs b.c if it is then u r not getting enought power same shit happen to my bud in his van he when and bought a cap and everythin worked fine untill someone stole his system
...Also check the fused distibutor you have attached to the back of your sub box. Remove it, then check on the bottom to see if the plastic around the screws is bubbling up. If it is, then you would need to replace it. The vibration from the bass can cause the fuses to move or the screws to come loose within the holder creating sparks and, as a result, heat. That heat causes the plastic to "boil" and "melt" thereby affecting the power connection to the amp creating intermittent operation. I have experienced this before.
got another idea. where are youy grounded. check to see if anyhting is ionized (ground is crucial) thats waht happened with my system. make sure its not grounded anywere stupid like under a screw. Scratch off some paint and driill in a tapping screw to gruond your self securly.
please, do something about that install at the same time - what the hell are those additional rca wires doing there? the ground seems taped to something else? before you junk the amp, do the install properly, also check you amp remote to make sure it's well secured as well and that is has not come loose from where the other amp is connected - aka, the amp remote is coming on and off for just that one amp.
if its hitting protect, that's generally from a overheat or from an impedance issue. since it's just cabin speakers hooked up to it, and they all function properly when the amp is running, I don't see any issue there - or it's just a blown amp....
