Default ho alternator

i have a 99 civic and i was wondering at what wattage would you start thinking about switching the stock alternator for a h.o. alternator? i have heard that civics dont have very "strong" alternators. i have a soundstream van gogh 400 watt amp and a alpine 100 watt amp and i was going to add some more but was wondering if i should change alternators

Its generally not the wattage you are looking at, but the amperage. Take a look at the fuses on the amp and add them together. I believe that a Civic alternator is rated for 90 amps? i could be wrong.
