Default amp/sub

well im at the point where iwouldnt mind spending some cash on an amp/sub

keep in mind im driving a prelude(not a big trunk), so id like some trunk space efficiency

i probably listen to rap the most-i want it to hit hard, but im not buying them to give people in nearby houses and streets an idea of what kind of music i like.

im trying to decide what brands to look for, and what size to get. ive been thinking 2 10's or maybe a 12. Im not sure how they compare, so any advice would be great.

i saw a few infinity 10s on crutchfield, the infinity reference 1040w
or perhaps the infinity kappa perfect 10.1
besides the wattage im not sure what would cause such a price difference--perhaps material of the cone?
those were just a thought any brands or size recommendations would be great.
id hope to keep it under 500, btw

thanks for the help

mike

Image Dynamics IDQ or ID3 for the subwoofer. You can find them at sounddomain.com. I believe they are the only authorized internet dealers for ID. And for an amp, http://edesignaudio.com/product.php?...pid=24&cur=USD will do 400x1 @ 4 ohm. The http://edesignaudio.com/product.php?...pid=33&cur=USD will do 600x1. They both are underrated.

depends what you want.
there are some fairly obscure companies that rock, i'll tell you that...
some others suck, it just happens.

RF and Kicker and the like, well they are HUGE so they have decent warranties and are fairly easy to get ahold of... some smaller companies only sell online thru their sites and its tougher to contact them and cust svc can suck.

A lot of time with the mainstream brands, I find that their products may lack because well...they dont need to devote too much of their money into making it better because they already have such a huge backing of customers through advertising and sponser contracts. Then you have those non-mainstream companies that produces SUPURB products but dont advertise mainstream because they just arent made for mainstream buyers.

I've heard Infinity subs, the paid of Perfects that my friend has gives me a headache because it is able to get so loud. And for Fosgate, I run one of their oldschool amps as well. And it has been SOLID. I've put that amp through some stuff, including running zero resistance through a pair of channels accidently. It went into protect mode on and off for 20 mins. The amp was too hot to touch. It cooled down, and has been running like nothing happened.

Like Bmpn said...depends what you get. That is why researching is so important.
