Default broken sub?

well one of my subs stopped working about two days ago. today when i had time to troubleshoot, i pulled it out of its box and what to my suprise
one of the wires connecting to the cone part has ripped itself out of the speaker beyond repair?

2 questions:
what do i do about this?

an audio store in town said i had to send it in, but i don't want to send it in, costing me some overpriced figure, to have them tell me that i have to pay more money so i can get a fixed sub?

second, any ideas what happened? i've just used it normally since i've had it and its only one of the 2 subs, i'm confused.

yeah well i spose you could call it that. its the stuff that connects from the wire to the part of the sub that moves up and down.

did it rip off of the sub, or the little connector area where the speaker wires attatch?

specs of the sub are:
i believe its the 2004 'model' of the kicker comp vr, i know its a kicker comp vr but i donno what year
dual voice coil
4 ohms
the 'tinsel' as someone called it seems to have fallen out of a hole of some kind. the other ones look like they have some kind of covering on them that is holding them in. kicker says they don't fix them and a shop says they can't do anything, so i think i'm out of luck but any tips?

two options - not sure where you live, but there's a place in rochester, ny called "the speaker place" they do speaker repairs. Or you can look on Ebay - i found 4 used kicker comp vr's (similar to yours) but i don't know what the ohm resistance is on these, but here's the direct link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-COMP-VR-1...QQcmdZViewItem

here's the info for the speaker place:
http://www.newfoam.com/Default.asp They're an authorized Kicker Dealer as well. Never had a problem with their service.

enjoy and BASS ON!

again, where did the tinsel pop off of? the cone? or the terminal? it sounds like you may just have to bite the bullet, and replace it...
