Default Disconnecting negative battery cable...

Will this trip the code on the radio or does the positive have to be disconnected to? I want to reset my CEL but don't have my radio code. Thanks.

you can get the same effect by pulling the #15 fuse called "radio" on the passenger side fuse box.

When you reset the ECU to clear codes, you have to cut power ... unfortunately this is still tied to the radio. No matter what you do, you're going to have to re-enter in that security code.

Once the negative is pulled from the battery, the circuit is gone. You will have to enter the code again.

No man, just in the middle of a lot of corn fields... I just did it in a parking lot at night when I hooked up my amp.... I was hoping it wouldn't ask for it and it didn't...

Pulling the ECU fuse in the under-hood fuse box will reset the ECU without cutting power to the radio. It has to be pulled much longer than the negative terminal of the battery, but it still does the job. Pull it for 10 minutes and then put it back in and see if that helps.

Call Acura or Honda. They will ask for your serial number to the stereo. Hopefully they wont charge you. If they do, call another dealership.
