thanks, but I was thinking of the alpine cda-9855, cda-9853, cda-9860, or the kenwood execelon x889....I live in the Los Angeles area, and was at the downtown L.A. area (central and 11th) today...most of the stores(wholesalers) around that area gave me the price for the cda 9855 between $330-$350, cda 9853 for $270-$285, cda-9860 for $350-$380, and the x889 for $250-$280. if can please advise on any other head unit that is reliable. thanks for the help and thought...hmmm, seem like the old model cda-9835 is quite popular too...got to go back there again next week and see if any of them carry it.

The 9855 and 9853 are nice. I havent played with the 9860 though.

With any headunit you are getting, play with them in store first. How well you are able to adjust and scroll through the menus is very important, at least to me. What kept me from buying the 9855 was the Glide Touch thing and the menus are really confusing and hard to use compared to Pioneer's units. But other than that, 9855 all the way
