Boston Accoustics are fantastic! Get the three way rally series (RX97) and that will be the last pair of 6x9 speakers you will ever buy. Everything else sounds like crap compared to them. Those who tell you otherwise haven't listened to them with a good 2 channel amp and a good source connected to it. They are also nearly indestructable under moderate useage (nothing is indestructable under heavy useage
) I don't even need a subwoofer. I am running a 4 channel Pioneer GMX-213 bridged to two channels and the KEH-P8500 head unit, and the imaging and just plain crisp bass rivals quite a few subs.

Yeah everyone has their preference, like wiLL said you just gotta listen and its up to your own taste. Rear speakers are mostly just for fill but like i said if you are looking for rear speakers, boston accoustics would be my choice
