I had a single 10" explod sub hooked up to a no-name brand 600w amp (acutally 300wX2 bridged into one). I mounted it in a big sealed box approx 18x18x18". In my '91 hatch it sounded great... noone could believe it was only a 10" sub! If you're looking for something that sounds good, gives some thump, but doesn't blow out your ears, it'll do great! If you want to blow out your windows and the guy next to you, you probably will want to either go with 2 12"'s or a different brand. There's my $.02

We have two Sony Xplod 12's hooked up to a Xplod 1200W 2-ch amp, they sound terrible. And their being powered by their own amp, an amp that sony recommends to use with the subs. Id give them a 3.5 outta 10.

I never had the subs, but I have had sony xplods and JL 6x9s I can compare. You will get tighter, more efficient bass from JL, I would stay away from the sonys. The sonys I had were good, but the sound quality was bad. The JL's I currently own not only sound great, they can shake the whole car without the need for an amp, and these are just 6x9s.

yea im not a fan of the sony stuff but im not a fan of jl subs either. elevation audio has different levels of equipment and i have installed their entry line comp subs and put a true 600 watts to a single 10 with no problems and they sound great. one of the best out there and definitely the best for under 100
