Default tuning an amp

I've got an older amp, it's fairly simple. It's got 3 controls. Mono and Stereo switch, EQ and Gain.

I have it on mono to bridge to power a sub. But what's a good method for setting the EQ and Gain?

There is a complicated proper way to set the gain. Using a special CD that plays certain freqs and voltmeters.

Then there is the easy way.

-Turn GAIN all the way down
-Turn HU volume to 3/4 full
-Play a familiar track on CD or radio
-Turn up gains until the speakers start to clip
-Turn gain down a notch, right before it clips.

Done.

As for the EQ...:dunno:
