Default How do I remove the stock radio (1997 Integra Hatchback)?

Hi all,

My wife has a 1997 Acura Integra Hatchback (I think its the RS model, unless thats the sport one, then its not an RS).

Anyway, I purchased a MP3 sony radio from Crutchfield for her for Xmas. I am still playing with the wiring harness (unrelated) but I am realizing I have no idea how to get her stock radio out.

Is there a write up on removing her stock CD/Radio setup from her Integra? Or some advice on how to pull the radio out?

Thanks,
Rich

there should be the stock Acura harness that stays in the car and is already wired to the speakers, and then another shorter harness, which comes with your new cd player, that changes the acura harness into a harness for the type of cd player you got. then also plug the antenna cable into the back of the new cd player. as for taking the radio out, just yank it out?

Sorry, after re-reading my email, that maybe didnt make so much sense.

I am looking for information on physically removing the old radio? Does part of the dash need to come off to get to the radio, or are their 'keys' or a special tool needed for radio removal?

I just installed a new radio in my 2000 GS-R. I got it thru crutchfield and they sent integra specific instructions which were pretty good. You need to take the whole center console apart. It's not hard just time consuming. It took me about 3 hours start to finish including soldering the harness. I installed XM too.
