I have a 98 Civic ex and was looking into getting a set of components for the front. Can someone tell me what the max depth the speaker slots can hold in the doors and what size tweeter would fit in the factory door pod. Thank you.

depends on the driver - but probably not....just cut out the plastic baffle behind the driver. The use some foam/plastic - whatever to build a simple rain guard.

Unless you have a HUGE magnet - you should be a.o.k.

I wouldn't use a plastic bag - it would be hard for it to stay in place - I have used those XTC foam baffles and custom trimmed them to work - you can find them at crutchfield.com

 

Thank you, I was looking at those yesterday on they're website.

What size would you recommend? the slim baffles 2-3/8" deep or the regular 4-12" deep? WIll using baffles effect the sound of the speakers in any way?

depends on how deep your speakers are....choose appropriately, but 4 1/2" is too deep.

What I do is trim out most of the baffle so that it covers only the top half of the speaker, but I leave enough of the flange around to use it as a gasket to seal the speaker to the door panel.

they trim easily with scissors.
