Diy Installation Of A Sub step by step with pics
I found this on the web but it was in french. So i translated it and posted it here. I AM NOT THE WRITER OF THIS.
WARNING : I am not responsible of the errors that you can occur in following these instructions. These instructions are not perfect but she result from my experience as an installateur with Future Shop. Use them to your risks.
Equipment require:
1 amplifier, 1 sub and 1 wood of his (d'uh!!!)
1 calibre wire 8 or 4 (according to the power of the amplifier) of 20 feet for a compact car
a pair of wire to High calibre speakers 10 or 12 of about 10 feet
A wire to blue remote ideally (gauges 16 or 18) 20 feet
a pair of Wire RCA (of best possible quality, this is him that transmits the sound of your radio to your amplifier) 20 feet (they had not any 20 feet I have therefore of the to take a wire of 25 feet)
2 connectors to battery (a red one and a black one)
A door fuse
A fuse about 1.5 to 2 times forces it fuse on the amplifier (I have a fuse 25 amps on my amplifier, I have therefore prit a fuse 40 amps)
1 iron to solder + soudure
Type electric

Step 1:
Preparation of the fillage
-To cut an end of about 6-8 thumbs of the red wire of calibre 8.
-To solder the red connector to the end of this one.
Note: TO ASSURE ITSELF that the connector is well to solder completely to the wire and just no to put soudure on the wire to prevent it from go out. If it there has soudure everywhere on the copper of the wire, that will prevent the corosion.
Notice: To Put the sheath to about 2 thumbs of the connector since she risks heating when one will solder the connector and she collera on the spot.
- To Cut an end of about 3-4 feet of the calibre wire 8.
- Skinner an end of the wire
- To Solder the black connector to the end of this one.
- To Put an end of types electric to the other extremity in order to differentiate the positive wire of the negative wire.

Step 2:
Preparation of the cash register of his
- To Cut 2 lengths of about 1 foot of the wire to high speaker.
- To Separate the sons (positive and negative) and the skinner.
- To Solder every wire. That rendera the soudure with the internal connectors of easier wood.
- To Put soudure on the connectors inside wood
- To Solder the sons on the connectors in réspectant the polarity of the connectors (the red boundary with the positive wire)
Note: One also could use connectors for this step but if one does it, one must assure oneself as they are solid and as they will not undo themselves with the vibration of the sub. This is the reason I find that this is more practical to solder the sons to the places.

Step 3:
Installation of the high speaker in the can.
- Skinner the sons to high speaker
- To Set up the sons on the borniers of the High speaker while respecting the polarity (the positive one with the positive ect)
Note: On certain low subs of games, it can be necessary to solder the sons if the borniers do not screw on themselves.
- To Put the sub in wood and the alligner for that the writing well centered in order to seem more professionel.
- To Screw on the sub some places the screws assistance to dry wood (lives to rock Sheet)
Note: To Pierce the holes with a small wick before screwing on. That will prevent the MDF to crack.
Now that the preparation was done, we are now near to go in the car one!

Step 4:
Wire of power
- To Put the door fuse on the wire of 6-8 calibre thumbs 8
- To Put the other extremity on the remainder of the calibre wire 8 (the 15 feet remaining)
- To Undo the positive center of the battery and there to screw on the red bornier
Note: never to leave the fuse in the door fuse! To install it to the all end! !!!!
- To Find a plug in rubber that passes through the wall cuts fire (between the motor and the interior of the car) and pass the calibre wire 8. It can be practical to pass a support to linge through the caouchouc to pierce it and next tapper the free extremity of the calibre wire 8 and pull the support (and the wire) through the wall cuts fire.
- To Hide the wire underneath the plastic ones underneath the harbors
- For the rear bench, Pull this one up. On most of the cars, this one is only "clippé" some places and it easily will remove himself.
Pass the wire underneath this one even in the suitcase.
Step 5:
Sons RCA and remote
- To Withdraw the radio and disconnect the wire comforter behind of this one.
- To Withdraw the types electric that surrounds the wire comforter and localize the blue wire white ligné (if you never had amplifier of installed and if you have not any electric antenna, it should be typed all alone inside the wire comforter).
- To Attach the blue wire of calibre remote 16 or 18 and to type it
- To Restore the wire comforter and the reconnecter on the radio.
- To Connect your wire RCA and the antenna wire.
- Rest your radio some places.
- Pass the wire RCA in the floor of the opposed quotation with the passing of power (if you passed the wire this calibre 8 (power) quotation of the driver, pass the wire RCA of the fleeting quotation). That will eliminate the possibility to hear interference of the sound of the motor in your sub. Luck that celà arrives are thin, but it's better not to take luck!
