Default AUX input in stock stereo?

I figure this might be common knowledge so I'm posting here. I have a 2001 Integra with the stock single cd player. I want to know if there is any type of AUX input in the unit that I could tap a wire into. I've got an Apple iPod that I want to be able to plug into the stereo. Does anyone know about any AUX inputs? I want to avoid getting a new head unit as much as possible. Thanks.

Yeah you have 2 options .

Cheap way is to go to Radio Shack and get a cheapo radio converter . It will let you tune your radio to 88.7 or somthing like that and it will play the Ipod like a mini radio station .

Right way to go is , Go to www.apple.com and buy the I Trip . Does the same without the wires that from the little unit and into your IPOD . The ITRIP connects directly to the top of the IPOD . Goodluck .

option 3... for the cleanest sound... there IS an auxillary input ADAPTER available. It plugs into the back of your OEM cd player, into the cd changer port... and gives you left and right RCA inputs. The input is then selected by pressing the "CD" button on the cd player twice (or again if you're playing a CD).

www.autotoys.com sells them.

a FM modulator, no matter what brand, will only sound as good as the FM tuner in the radio...... which isnt very good compared to a direct signal or a CD. Thats the problem with using FM mods... lack of sound quality.

I've actually been using the iTrip for a while now and like SumAccordGuy94 said, quality is of a good radio station at best. I want to upgrade to digital quality so thanks for the link to the adapter. I'm assuming this is an AUX to RCA adapter?

Thanks for your responses.

Default Bus specifications

Does anyone know a good site where I can get specifications for the CD changer bus? Based on the installation instructions I've seen for the factory CD changer, the bus not only carries the audio, but also has control functions and power. I'd like to tap into some of these capabilities when integrating a DVD player.

I've looked at some of the adapters on the market, and they seem quite expensive considering they don't appear to do much more than splice out the appropriate lines into RCA jacks.

Maybe I'm way off on this one.

the adapters that are available "trick" the deck into thinking a changer is connected... just wirring in some RCAs and trying to select the "aux" input wont work, the deck needs to "see" a changer there. There is something inside that adapter that works with the power and bus (control signal) to make the deck think it has a changer attached.

I saw your other post asking for the pin-out diagram... I have one for the earlier honda models (8-pin DIN plug), i'll find it for you if you need that one, or if you have a newer honda (usually 98-up, depending on the car) the pin-out is right on the radio... all the connections for power & speaker connections for the radio, as well as the changer connector are listed right on a sticker on the unit. If for some reason, you have a newer honda and there is no pin-out listed on the radio, I can get a pic of it for you so you can use that for your experimentation.

Default Excellent!

I actually take delivery of my new van tomorrow morning, so in the next couple of days I will pull the deck to see if the connector is labelled.

I figured that the adapter needed to fool the deck into thinking there was a changer and that it's more complex than a simple "power this line" kind of deal because the bus also appears to be used for the external cassette player. I was just thinking that I might be able to do a little more than just feed the audio. I haven't been able to find any technical specifications on the M-bus and how it works. If I could find that it would be a simple matter to create an adapter.

ThanX for your help!
