ok first Q: are infinity 652i 6 1/2 speakers any good? would they be alot better with an amp? what type of amp. thansk!

in short.. yes.. infinity speakers are nice, but not the beast out there by any means. with woofer cones, they'll probably sound a lot better amplified, but you can probably get away with running them off of your HU with no problems as long as they're on a crossover.

yes, an external amp will be much better than the amp inside of a headunit. a crossover limits certain freqencies to be played by the woofer and tweeter.

are crossovers hardware parts? or are they internal within the amp? wtf are they and how are they setup?

yes to both.. they are hardware and most new amps have them built in with a switch that allows you to switch between low pass/mid pass/high pass.

a crossover is a frequency filter that allows a desirable frequency range to be passed to the speakers.

for instance, if you have a tweeter, you don't want low frequencies going to it because it'll buzz and sound like ass. that's where the crossover comes into play. it filters out the low frequency range and allows the high, desirable frequency range to pass to the speakers.
