choice No.1
Alpine MRD-M500
900W MAX Power
500W x 1 (2ohm 14.4V)
price: 300-350

choice No. 2
MRD-M300
600w MAx
300w x 1(2ohm 14.4v)
price: 250

the sub i have and the one i will be getting
10" (4ohm + 4ohm)
1000w peak
300w rms
frequency 28Hz-2kHz

You are getting 2 of those subs that handle 300rms? It looks to me as if the ratings of the amps you listed are max ratings, that isn't nearly as important as the rms ratings, that is what you should go by when getting an amp to push your subs. Find out what the rms ratings are, only then can an educated suggestion be made.

He asked what would work, I gave him the parameters that would ultimately decide that, in laymans terms. I'll leave the unnecessary display of car audio terminology and definitions to people like yourself who throw those terms and definitions out to noobs only to make car audio seem more intimidating than it really is. I don't really feel a need to continue this "exchange" as it really isn't necessary. I have my way, you have yours, lets agree to disagree aight?

no i use the correct terms, not to make car audio seem intimidating, but to get the noobs familiar with the correct terminology. nothing more. i think that explaining it the correct way and not the dumbed down way is a little more respectful to those that don't know. did you get that?:fawk:

Again

MRD-M500
500x1 rms (2ohm@14.4)
250x1 rms (4ohm@14.4)
400x1 rms (2ohm@12)
200x1 rms (4ohm@12)

MRD-M300
300x1 rms
150x1 rms
200x1 rms
100x1 rms

Bl@ck 07-23-2002 05:09 PM

now let's review

choice No.1
Alpine MRD-M500
900W MAX Power max power
500W x 1 (2ohm 14.4V) probably not max power again, what kind of sense would that make
price: 300-350

Bl@ck 07-23-2002 05:12 PM

like i said before.. the mrd-500 is probably your best choice for your speakers

I understand where you're coming from bro, I really do. And in some part, I agree with you. But did you read and understand his post where it said "please use words at elemantry level. ok to keep things simple." I understand his point of view as I once was in his shoes, I live by the K.I.S.S. standard, Keep It Simple Stupid. But like I said, I understand and partially agree with your train of thought, but again, I have my way , you have yours. It's all good bro. You don't have to agree with my way, but you don't have to knock it either. Can't we all just get along?

ok. Since the subs you have are rated at 300rms and 1000max, I would agree with blackmagic that you should get the mrd 500. Usually subs rms is half of the max, but yours are only 300rms so you'd end up running your subs 100watts shy of their rms rating which isn't too bad. Go for it.
