Default Battery static?

Occasionally my battery builds up static until it will not work anymore...I go to start the car, and it just wont, no power. I pop the hood, and touch the battery(neg terminal), get a little shock, and its good to go for another few days. I redid my grounding wires, and was wondering if I should us some di-electric grease, or if it was something else. My ground points are the same as stock, but i made sure it was clean metal. Any suggestions?

If you touch the ground terminal and get a spark, thats not static, its just a bad connection.

Pull your battery ground cable off, clean the connector real well, and tighten it back on securely.
