Default Rear Brake Pad Replacement

i've got a 1994 accord, and i recently tried to replace my rear brake pads. I took out the two caliper bolts, and the caliper is supposed to "pull right off" so says the Hayes manual. But as hard as i try to pull, it won't come off.

Any ideas or links to a rear brake pad replacement? It would be much appreciated!!

thanks.

Hit it with a hammer :dunno: but I have seen mechanics whack calipers with a small sledge hammer after removing the caliper bolts, and the caliper just pops right off. However, I have never done it.

Someone who has done this have some advice for him??

Release the handbrake.

OK, seriously... sometimes I have to push & pull a bit, and use a small crowbar. Unhook the handbrake cable to give that a bit more slack.

yeah, i just did mine on my '99....I had the e-brake on like an idiot for a bit, and was like, why won't this come off?? Once I released that, then it took a bit of shimmy-ing to get the calipers off. We used a small crow bar and a hammer mallet to whack it off and eventually it worked off.

I'd recommend a nice platic or rubber headed mallet. You can generally find soft head mallets at the tool store. This helps prevent chipping or cracking metal off some of the cast parts.
