Default Any good way to get rid of rust on coilovers?

I just bought a set of used Apexi WS coilovers and they're a bit rusty, is there any way to clean off the rust without ruining the thread on the coilovers? And what should I use to clean over the rest of the coilovers? I dont wanna use too much water cuz that'll cause the perch to become stuck to the strut. I wanna make the coilovers look almost new again

i never tried it, but navel jelly gets out rust. dunno how it would work on the sleeves tho. at least it's liquid, and won't sand down the threads. read the label first tho. hehe

steel wool - sos pad

after rust is removed apply anti-seize compound to the threads - its not pretty lookin' but will prevent rust again.

Next time buy NEW suspension parts(springs/shocks/coilovers)
