Default Fuel Gauge Problems...

I am having a fuel gauge problem. When you fill the tank, the gauge only comes up to about 1/2 tank. Sometimes, though, it remembers what it is doing and works right for a few minutes.

The low fuel light still seems to work correctly judging by how many I miles I drive b4 it comes on.

Sending unit maybe???

Any ideas??

Add this to my nickel and dime list....time for a trade in.

Welcome!!
You're the 1billionth person having this problem!!
I thought it was only 5th gen. specific, but it turns out that most Accords are having the same problem with the fuel level sending unit.
Just wait for you fuel light to come on, then you'll know you're desperate for fuel.

It was a Honda factory defect.

Search engine..... great tool!!

https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...highlight=fuel

http://board.hondasociety.com/showth...ght=fuel+guage

Link should provide info on how the fuel gauge works..

I also had problem with my fuel gauge too.
Any how.. I replace the fuel gauge and tried
brand new fuel meter assy.. still had problem..
Me.. need to replace the gas tank!! lol.

From your descrition about your problem..
I suggest replacing the Fuel Gauge itself..
I think your fuel gauge coil burned out!!!

Try ebay for used Accord cluster!!

Good Luck.

I wouldnt say it was the fuel guage. Those things rarely go bad.

Even though, my guage doesnt read full, and I have an Accord cluster sitting around in my closet.

I just bought a 1990 accord LX. I fear that I may have the same problem. had starting trouble first day I bought it. guage showed 1/4 tank and no fuel light was on.. but yet no start.... filled it up, and changed fuel filter and so far so good.... still running on that first tank of gas sitting at about 190 miles and just below 1/2 tank... does this seem like normal milage for a 5spd accord??

Should I get more and more worried as the guage dropps closer to empty?? How close to that bottom line should it get before the light comes on??

haha, i remember when the meter was below the red part and my light still never came on. but it also happens to my friend's 92-95 civic, so i guess its a honda problem.
