Default weird straining/metalic noise

i have a 94 lx. when i rev the car from about 2000 to 3000 in 1,2, sometimes 3 there is this strange noise that comes from either the engine or pipes that go down to exhaust. it sounds like air gettin out or some metal rubbing against something, kinda like a whining noise. the car is fully stock. just wonderin if anyone else has similar problems, and if anyone knows what kinda problem it is.
thanks

Hmm, if it ain't Honda specific, you're likely to find better luck in the Engine Tech forum. Those guys know a lot. Good luck.

Mine friend had the same noise on his prelude, sounded like a loose heat shield. It was actually the timing belt tensioner, means you will need a new tentioner and belts too now if that is the case.

try taking off the heat shield first and checking out the cat. shield also. they are infamous for rattling. timing belt should be like a 90K mile maintainance thing (atleast it is for 5th Gens), costed me almost $500 for all oil seals/gaskets, timing belts, water pump, oil change and the whole 90K maintainance. i just recieved a notice from honda that they'll change the balancer shaft oil seal for free cuz of recall, but i already had all that changed at the 90K maintainance , so im going to wait until just before the recall expires in january and have it done again.

The timing belt tensioner went on my buddies Lude at 34k? Very unusual I guess. He had what sounded like an exhaust rattle above 2-3g on the tac. They replaced the entire exhaust before they found the noise. The dealer is your best bet for diagnosis unfortunately--unless you have one of those cool Groit's Garage stethiscope things to hear the tensionaer noise.
