Default '02 4cyl. muffler & air filter question

i'm trying to get just the muffler not the whole system...
would it give the sound? at all? or it will just damage the engine or any part of my car? if something can go wrong.. tell me... Also im thinking about getting those circular shape air filter.. ones u can buy from like pep boys.. for about 20-30 bucks... will it do anything? sound ? or.. risk of hydro... anything... i dont no anything about a car... just tell me everything you guys no.........
and since im like a newb.. plz spell out ... dont abbreviate.. like CAI .. CAt.. something like that~ thanx..

Would it give "the sound" ??? Most will give the fart cannon sound if that's what you are looking for.

Cone filter, it'll look different and because you are not using the stock intake resonator, it'll be louder. That's about it.

Don't waste your money on the filter IMO.

Muffler you could do, it'll just change the sound. Most likely it'll be loud.

whats filter IMO??? IMO??
is that the thing i talked about?
and yeah.. that fart cannon sound... i wanted some of that...
better than those.. regular.. empty can tumbling sound..

Haha, you edited "no abbreviations"

IMO=in my opinion. And yes, filter is the cone thing you mentioned. That's what it is, a filter.
