Don't you guy think that the location of honda's tweeter in the front of the dash is bad imaging? You could enjoy your music and your speakers better if it had better imaging!

Default Pried open grill, look what's inside

So today I just pried open the passenger side grill to see what's inside and I saw some good and bad stuff.

The Good: I can just pry off the grill. I used a small screwdriver and pried it off from the left side. No need to remove or do anything to the dash. Also, it's pre-wired. the connector was "plugged" into the grill. There's a green and gray wire...

The Bad: I see no way of screwing in a tweeter. There are also no wounts on the grill that I can screw in the twetter or anything... Plus, there's no holes in the grill. The backside of the grill is solid plastic. Based on this, I'd guess that the higher model Accords have different grills...

Does anyone know how the tweeters normally connect in there? Whether they are screwed into the dash or if they are connected to the grill?

Thanks!

Hi - well, that's interesting, they're fake grills! I wonder if the tweeters on the LX and EX are attached to the grills, and that's why they have to put a fake grill on the DX? If that's so, maybe you could just buy the LX/EX tweeters and grills and just attach the wires and snap them right in - at least it would be easy. Although people seem to be saying they don't really sound that good and you might not want them anyway.

What's also nice is that we also have the keyless entry system standard on the DX (i.e. the funky key with the fob built in). Really comes in handy...
Wow, that's great!! And, the Canadian DX even comes in Graphite Pearl, doesn't it?

I'm still trying to evaluate my options. Just getting the OEM tweeters and plugging them in would probably be the easiest thing. However, it won't be the best thing to do by far.... Hmmmm...

And yes, the Canadian DX is also available in Graphite Pearl. I was thinking of getting that color, but then figured it wasn't as "dirt resistant" as silver. Plus, the dealer didn't have any in stock. I'm happy with my choice, as the dirt really doesn't show until it gets bad (very useful in our salt-laden winter roads!)

My car is also silver. If I had the option of graphite to choose from it would have been really tough - at the time I probably would have taken the graphite - but I'm glad now that I didn't have that choice because I really LOVE my silver car!!!

I took off the grills on my '04, and the tweeters are attached to the grills themselves. They are held in to the grill with tabs, and can be taken out. I think the diameter of the hole they are mounted in are 1" I've been considering better tweeters myself, since the treble is a little weak on this system. The tweeters have a capacitor mounted on them (for crossover I suppose.) If anyone has a good suggestion on mounting aftermarket tweeters, I'd like to hear it. I want to keep it stock looking, to keep thieves away.

I'm wondering if the tweeters are hooked up to the same leads as the speakers in the door...

Warning: I noticed that the leads were pretty short coming out of the dash, so don't let them fall back inside. I'm not sure how easy they'd be to fish out.

I'm thinking about getting a good mid/tweeter separate package and replacing the stock ones in the front, to complement the 2 10" subs I already have installed. Any suggestions on brands?

I just recently installed some alpine tweeters in my LX and thought it was going to be a backbreaker but before i did that i checked in with a car audio shop. They told me that they would have to remove the whole dashboard to get to the tweeters and wires or they could just make cut a hole where my side mirrors were which would cost me about $100+. Thank God I decided to do it myself because there was only a few panels that had to be removed to get to the wires and the tweeters just popped off.
