Default Fan stays on Forever

My friend just bought a 91 Accord and the fan will stay on for like 3-5 minutes after the car shuts off. Is this normal or what?

I don't know if the 90 and 91's have the delayed cooling fan. The 3g accords have the delayed cooling fan that ran for a few minutes after the car was shut off. From the looks of the manual, there is a fan timer control which is why the its running after. Maybe some other 90 model 4ger's can post in here.

nope my buddies 5th gen accord, the fan would stay on for 1-3 mins after the car is shut off. I wish my 6th gen would do that i would think it will be good for the engine to cool off.

Normal but you may want to check the temp control unit to be sure.

My 4th gen LX wagon does the same so I think its pretty normal. Now if it stayed on for 5 - 10 minutes then there is an issue.

it is normal for the fans to come on and off after you have turned the car off... it says in the owners manual it can do this for up to 15mins after the ignition is off.... my car does not do this unless im driving like a maniac.... and/or i take my heatshield off causing more heat in the engine bay.... but anyway... if u read your manual, it says its normal up to 15mins.

my 97 does this too
i'll shut off my car and for about 1-4 minutes the fan will stay on
it does this every time i shut the car off
unless i don't give it a chance to warm up and then shut it off i think. i haven't really paid attention in that scenario

You may want to check you coolant for the right mix and amount. It may be running hotter since the coolant level has broke down or not enough in it. Making the vehicle run hotter.
