It'd be nice to know what kind of car. Well, I figure it's an Accord, but what year & what engine?

I'd guess drive belts (alternator, AC, PS) are too loose. Or maybe just too old & slippery.

But if you got a V-6 they'd be on the wrong side of the car...

Could be brake wear 'indicators', too. Is it different if you drag your brakes when you start up? Look at your brake pads. Are they worn down?

Can you make the noise without moving the car?

i'm pretty sure it's the brake pad warning indicator. time to replace the pads. this happened to me a month or so ago. you still have a little time left if you can stand the noise but it's better (not to mention safer) to just get it done and out of the way.

btw i also have a 98 i4 if that helps

jesus it scared me when mine happened, i was going 70 and it was really loud, came from front drivers side wheel, sounded like it was going with a rotation, and was really loud in reverse, oh well, happened about 2 weeks ago, and it stopped, was really weird. thought my tire was going to fall off at first! :naughty:

Don't forget to check the inboard brake pad. That's the one with the wear indicator. If the calipers are stuck, maybe only the inboard one is wearing out.

Other possibilities are... Noisy wheel bearing? Bent splash shield scraping against the brake rotor? I once got a small stone stuck between the rotor & splash shield (that was loud)...
