Default Replacing brake pads

What up yall.

My new 98 EX has about 20% on the front pads so I think I should replace them. I'm wondering if I have to buy stock pads to get the same performance (long life, no squeaks, not too much brake dust) or if the cheapies (Raybestos) at the auto parts store will do just as well?

Specially since it's your front pads, you want stock or better, but not cheap. On your rears, maybe I could see going a little less cheap but brakes can save your life. My boy got into a car accidnet and spun around and I almost put my engine into is passenger seat. Thank God I have good brakes. So do you still want to go cheap????

I just ordered some Brembo Blank rotors, and AEM pads for the front and rear. I'm putting them on in a couple weeks once they come in. I know a couple of people that have the AEM pads and say they like them a lot, I've also heard that Hawk pads are good, as well as the green stuff pads. I got a good deal on prices on www.nopi.com or you can check out www.tirerack.com they have a good selection on brake pads.

Good stuff that is what I am running right now. If you want, get some stainless steel lines and you will be set.

don't forget the anti squeak gel when you install your pads too. that'll really cut down the noise.

anti squeak gel? where the heck do you get that, and are performance pads really that noisy? Are my AEM pads going to make people's heads turn because the noise they will make?

Ha Ha!

I've been doing that, works for about a week. I put anti-squeak gel on the shims and pads, still making noise. I'll wait for the pads to wear down then go back to OEM.
