Since my LX-V6 doesn't come with tweeters, how difficult and costly would it be to install some? Either professionally done or by myself? Does upgrading all the speakers (and adding the tweeters) require an amplifier and/or a new head unit? Thanks...I really suck at audio stuff.

The easiest way for you to add tweeters in your would be get a good set of component speakers... mount the mid-bass in the stock location and the tweeter in the upper portion of the door panel... up around where the door handles are. This will give you a reasonably easy install, being you can put the crossover right inside the door and no new wirring through the door jamb will be needed. Its really easy to mount the tweeters as well... find your locations, and using the flush mount "cup" as a guide, cut through the vinyl on the door panel... once through the vinyl, use a hole saw of proper size to make a nice hole through the plastic. Each company is different as to how the tweeters actually mount, but it usually consists of a plastic "cup" that the tweeter fits into, and there will be clips that screw into the back side of the tweeter cup to hold it in place in the door. Try to go for a snug fit when cutting the hole in the plastic, just to avoid any rattles, squeaks or anything.
As long as you play them at a moderate level, you wont need any amplification or a new deck... but to get the best sound out of them, I would suggest a new headunit. Most aftermarket headunits now-a-days will provide adequate power for mid-level components and coaxial speakers... down the road, a more powerful external amplifier can always be added to get better sound and more volume without distortion.
Being you are in NY, I would be willing to help you if you like.

Okay, thanks a lot sumaccord...I think I'm just going to wait until I have enough money to upgrade everything. I just test drove a G35 coupe with the 11 speaker BOSE system, so I really am not too into car audio in my Accord at the moment

yep, I just look up the specs and realized the LX I4 comes with a 6-speaker setup. I was just a little confused because I thought it originally came with a 4 speaker setup. Shows how much I know about car audio

My 99 I4 LX only has 4 speakers stock, maybe they changed it later on. And my fake tweeter covers are solid, and they are up on the dash, by the bottom of the windshield.
