Default Factory Crossover?

I have a 98 Accord Coupe V6 w/ the 6speaker setup. 6.5 doors 6x9 rears and tweeter on the dash.

I have some MB Quart Tweeters and I Snagged a pair of Polk 6.5 midranges for the door. Needless to say with my bastard setup I still need a crossover.

My question is, Being that the factory system has tweeters, are they crossed over? If i just replace them w/ my MB Quarts will they be crossed over?

Sorry for my Pre-noob-essence

there isn't a crossover in the AV6. i'm pretty sure that the speakers in the dash are wired just like the other 4.

there are no crossovers, the tweeters are just spliced into the front speakers.

I would have thought it would have *at least* an inline highpass crossover for the tweeters. They have full frequency going to the tweeters then. I'm surprised they don't blow?

That's what I thought too, but CivicRacer is correct, the factory tweeters are bridged onto the woofers in the door. If you have the Helms Electrical Manual, you can see that in the schematic. When I wired up my front components, I ran new (bigger) speaker wire to the door, and just bypassed the stock wiring.

Thanks for the info. Did you run new wire to the dash Tweeters too? or just the door speakers?

Do you know where i could download the helms manual for the car?

The Kappa 60.5 components have a crossover. I ran new speaker wire to the door, and put the crossover behind the door panel. I mounted the 60.5 tweeter in the door panel, so that bit of wiring is within the door. I don't use the dash tweets, although I'm installing a hands-free kit for the cellphone and am thinking of using the factory tweeters for that.

I don't know of any place you can download the manual. It's a thick book (and well worth buying if you plan on doing any electrical work yourself).

i think the hi-pass filter is built into the stock tweeter. used the factory wiring for the midwoofer and ran new wires for the tweeters in my accord
