Default HID bulbs?

Lets say you buy a generic retrofit kit from brand x.

Lets say suddenly one bulb fails. you think to yourself "you know I'm tired of OSRAM 6000k's and would rather get philips 4300K's"

Is there anybody that sells just retrofitted bulbs? Are the connectors (bulb to ballast) used by the different retrofitters the same? or will I have to splice the connector from my old bulb onto the new one?

I started wondering cuz for some reason last night one of my bulbs went out and then I started thinking about getting a new bulb. Its not a problem anymore cuz it started to work again....

I know my prob might be my ballast since obviously the bulb is working...but just answer the question.

Its harder to get HID retrofit kits since they are banned.
