I'm curious to know...does anyone here actually race their accord? Some people are just for show, some are show and go, and some are all go, no show...sleepers as we call them...I'm just curious because accords are heavy cars, and mine weighs 4035 lbs. A lot of other cars have a weight advantage to us like many civics are only 2k. So I was wondering if anyone here really races and the results. I've raced a bunch of civics and a couple of integras. I think they were all stock though because I beat every one of them. They were street races though, not at a track or anything. Holla back...

How in the world does your Accord weigh 4035lbs? Do you have like two other people along with you when you race your car?:dunno:

I used to drive a 2001 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl and it weighed like 3200lbs. I never raced my Accord before, but I've been taking my TSX to the drag strip to race it recently. I ran high 15s and low 16s with my TSX and my TSX weighs 3300lbs.

I dunno if the TSX and Accords will get same results since they are kinda similar.

Okay...maybe I am trippen then...I read a long time ago that it weighed about 3k but recently someone said it was over 4k. They were reading some # off the side of the car where the door opens. It actually weighs 3036 stock but now I have a full fiberglass body kit which may have added weight, but I replaced the stock metal fenders with fiberglass...way lighter! But anyway, since your car weighs about the same...you said you ran about 15s and 16s, what engine mods do you have? If you don't mind me asking...

Yeah, better recheck that weight of your car.

Drag racing in my Accord has no appeal to me at all.

I've autocrossed with it though, seems like a better use of the car to me. The car can be made to handle decent relatively easy, power is another story.

So jschmid...you don't even street race it?? My problem is...It's kinda embarassing to have a car look fast and I'm barely moving...eventually I'm gonna put an Accord type R engine but that's way down the road. How come your not interested in drag??

Street racing...like stoplight to stoplight... I could see two friends going at it on some abandoned street out in the sticks or something, but to do it light to light with some stranger...I just think that's lame no matter what you are driving. It's just not smart in my opinion.

My car is slow....why would I want to drag it and be reminded of it? If I wanted a fast car, I wouldn't have gotten an Accord. I'm all for people swapping motors, boosting their Accords, etc. It's just not real cost effective in my opinion. The originality factor is greater than the speed factor.

Best bang for buck with our cars in my mind is to go all out on the suspension, and go tear up some backroads. That's much more of a rush to me than going in a straight line taking 16 seconds to cover the 1/4.

Well if power is a ways down the road for you, maybe tone down the look of your car...(I have no idea what it looks like, but if it's got some wild bodykit and a benchpark spoiler, go back to a more stock look and you won't feel embaressed about the look/power of the car).

For one thing, street racing is just plain dumb. You put yourself and innocent bystanders at risk for no good reason. There's no loss of esteem in letting the other idiot get the ticket. If you want to race, take it to the track.
