how to launch
one way to launch an auto would be a neutral bomb, which is where you rev up in neutral then drop it in D4. but that is a recipe for tranny soup so it's a big no no.
another way to launch would be to keep your foot on your brake while in D4 and rev up. release the brake when you want to take off. although it might not be good for your car, its not as bad as neutal bombs

Start in D3. Actully I was told to help your auto tranny last longer to always drive in D3 until around 50 and put in D4.
At the track I just held my brake down and held the gas at like 2000 RPM's. It actully improved my reaction time and I almost got a .500
. (I even screetched the tires)
But dont do neutral drops. It seems that it slows the car down even more.

putting the tranny in d3 doesnt do anything except keeping it from shifting to 4th. im not sure about 7g accords, but on 5g accords, 3 gear was good till well over 100mph. i really hope you arent racing that fast on the street.
at the track, my best times were with brake torquing and manually shifting from first (past redline a bit). both of these thing will cause your tranny to blow up (mine did at 100k, started slipping at 60k)

At around 50 my car seems that it needs to shift and it wont shift unless I force it too by going faster or shifting it into D4.
My tranny was rebuilt 2 years ago at around 100K too.
