Default Oil viscosity

I am gettin ready to change my oil...and it runs in the hundreds here, the manual says to use 5w-30 (94' Accord EX) And i was wondering if i am risking any wear by using that rather than 10w-30, i shoudlnt right? the 30 is the high end rating and thats the same, but on the other hand the 10 is thinker than the 5, it would have to be, lol.

Any advice, what do you people that live in hot places run?

Matt

well the those motors don't really need 10w-30 since it's open deck design helps in cooling, but in the summer months when it's in the triple digits temp wise it won't hurt anything. i don't believe a 10w-40 is necessary unless the car is buring oil.

I use 10W30 Valvoline SynPower in Florida and 5w30 in MI winter, 96 Accord EX w/ 90,000 miles. I also change the synthetic oil every 3,500-4,000 miles.
