Default Blown Motor

The motor is blown in my 96 Accord. I want to swap it out for a used one while I rebuild it. Will any F22 fit or is it only the B2? If any will fit, what else would I have to change if I used a different variant? And finally, are there any reccomendations on where to pick up a used motor for a good price? Thank in advance.

My wife did it. Normal town driving. She stopped at a stop light the oil light came on. By the time she got it off the street, it had dumped all the oil from where the main seal should have been. Now it has a top end knock and only runs on 3 cylinders. It's on the mainland, I'm in Hawaii, don't have time to rebuild right now but need it to run for when I'm home on leave. Any help finding a used motor in Oregon, Washington, or N. Cali would be great.

Thank you.

If all youre looking for is a replacement motor, then try contacting the people on the boards who have done the h22a swap, and theyll prolly sell you their old motor for cheap. You can prolly easily find someone in the Cali area, tho yer more likely to find someone in the southern CA area.

I called Honda of America today and found out that the previous owner took care of the oil seal recall in December of 2000. Whew, got that off my chest I also found out that my car was purchased as a certified used car by the previous owners, and has a 14 year/150,000 mile emission warranty! So if anything (sensors, distributor, spark plug wires, exhaust a-pipe, cap/rotor, etc.) fail, Honda will replace it free or charge.

Btw, the oil seal warranty has been expired, so if it hasnt been done yet...Honda will not cover it.

Thanks for the heads up on the recall. Since the seal failed while the recall was still active and I paid to have it repaired, Honda is going to reimburse me my costs and I can now use that money to put towards another motor I found with about 30k less miles on it than mine. Hopefully, they had the seal recall taken care of before they wrecked the car. Even if they didn't at least I know about the problem now and can correct it before catastrophic damage is done. thanks for all your help.
