Default OEM wing spoiler

Just got an OEM wing spoiler installed on my 03 EX-V6 sedan. I was told when I ordered it that it comes with a heavier set of springs (or whatever you call them) so that when I hit the release, the trunk lid would open all the way rather than simply unlatch. The service guy said that's not the case. Now I have to lift the trunk lid all the way up and hold it there for a second or so, almost like it needs to be balanced in the open position, for it to stay open. What's gonna happen if there's a little wind? Damn thing'll slam on my fingers, that's what. Or worse, crack me in the brain.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem, or did I get a bad set of springs with the spoiler?

I had AM spoiler put on and still on original springs, my trunk does not pop open as much as b4, but i just lift it, I dont have to hold it for a few sec or stop it from falling back down...

I would have them check your springs, because I dont even have the right springs and mine is fine...

hmmm...

I know that there are two spoilers for the sedan, a wing and a flush-mount one.

I know that for the coupe it definately comes with stronger springs to account for the extra weight in the back. you should download the manual from hparts.com I bet you'll find that it does require a special set of springs.

03 accord wing spoilers have heavier springs that are supposed to be installed to counter the added weight.

if they weren't installed, you should go back and have it done.

The spoiler did come with springs, the service manager even showed me the old ones, although they didn't look much different than the new "heavy-duty". Thanks WarptEra for the link to hparts.com, I've been looking for a good source of info for accords. I'll have a closer look, maybe the springs have a part number that I can jot down and compare to others...

Default OEM spoiler

Oops, I forgot to update this thread when I got the trunk fixed. The dealer screwed up when they installed the spoiler and put the springs on backwards/upside-down. I took it to a different dealer and within 5 minutes it was fixed.
