Because he probably want to be different and mod and automatic instead of being like everyone else and race a manuel. Or maybe he would like to get more consistant times rather than screw times up due to driver error

there is a shop on the expressway called Custom Built Torque Converters. They do the same thing level ten does but for 100 bucks cheaper. Since it's in state you don't have to worry about sending stuff back and forth.
