Repainting My '98 Accord
Have any of you repainted your car using OEM paint.
If so, where could I buy it so. cal.?
I have a 4-door with 160k miles on it and the paint has been chipping and fading away.
I want to repaint it using the same color as the original (black).
Thanks.

mine was recently repainted - 18wheeler side-swiped me & a week later i got caught in a hail storm. mine is that purple/plum/eggplant color, whatever you wanna call it.
mine was repainted @ the shop doing the bodywork.
i'd say goto a local paint shop to check where you can buy it.
btw: mine only has 80k miles :fawk:

How much was it to repaint your car only?
I know you had it done with your bodywork...did they tell you the price of only the paint job.
Nice car by the way!
Thanks for the reply.

let's see...grand total was $7800 (plus another $800 for the 26 days i had a rental car!!!)
parts replaced:
hood, roof skin, trunk, passenger rear door & quarter panel, & (1) wheel/tire
paint supplies= $425
paint labor= $20 hrs @ $34/hr= $680
i'd say prolly $250 for prep work that was in the "body labor" section, so i'd say 1300-1400 total

ouch. You ever get the truck driver to pay?

on a positive note, since it was a hit & run, it went on my uninsured motorist of my insurance (only $200 deductable), no entry on my driving record (cop wrote it as "unknown vehicle entered lane, made contact & left the scene")
& no increase in premiums cause a month after it was repaired, i changed insurance companies & now have the higher coverage, renters insurance & will be getting motorcycle full coverage all for less than i was paying w/ the prevous company.the hail damage claim went on comprehensive, which had NO deductible

oh, & my car looks FUKKING brand new
