Eibach springs are a good soft rate spring that should meet your needs. Combine that with a good set of struts such as the KYB AGX and you should be fine.

My Teins handle fine around Boston roads, but if you've got an 88 how long are you going to keep it for? If not for long the pro kit would be fine for it. if your going to keep it a while I'd say make the investment. Teins feel great.

Teins are full coilovers. the springs and shocks are made to be used as one unit and they provide a superior ride(In my opnion) to springs, and shocks. That and they are ride height adjusatble, and you can adjust the dampening(stiffness) of your ride.

Teins may cost more than your car is worth. It's up to you whether you want to invest that much. You said you want comfort and not performance. Have you priced some OEM springs? If they aren't outrageously expensive, just get the OEM factory springs and some aftermarket stock replacement shocks like monroe or something cheap.

That way you save money for your Bavarian.
