I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of refrigerant the 1995 Honda accord uses. Does it use Freon, or the new stuff? I need the get my A/C Recharged. Also, does anyone know how much it typically costs for a Honda dealer to recharge the refrigerant? Thanks.

Just check under your hood. there is a sticker there that says what type you have. R12 is the old stuff, R134a is the new stuff

 

I just checked and it has the R134a. Does anyone know how much a Honda dealer will typically charge to get the Air Conditoner Recharged?

well i got mines done for $25, but it wasnt from the dealer.

I took my car to the Honda dealer. The pressure switch in the compressor broke, and they can't replace the switch because it was molded onto the compressor, so the compressor has to be replaced. Pieces of metal were being cirrculated around the whole system. Total cost for repair: $1050.00.

 

Is the compressor the same things as the condensor?

I supposedly have 2 holes in my condensor...which was the news I got last summer from a GoodYear Shop near my house. Ironically, my AC works ok...it's not as though it shoots out hot air...the air is not as cool as it is suppose to be...so in 70-80 degree weather it does the job...90's is a different story.

Anways...the cost of my compressor, evac, and recharge was like $600...

I thought the price I got was the most expensive an AC job could go for...after reading this thread...I can confidently say I was very very wrong!!!! sorry dude...

 

1994 was the year of all r134a conversions. I think you can walk in your auto parts strore and buy a can of 134a..you can here in Los Angeles. r-12 freon is gone, you may have to jump the Mexican border to get r-12.
All you need is a 1 1/2 lbs. or 22 oz. worth of 134a and a an adaptor to fit into the system.
