Default 2003 accord oil change question

i got 2003 accord 4 cyl and i read the manual and it say to change the oil at 5000 miles and at 10000 miles change the oil and filter i think that is wrong i was think about doing my first oil change at 1000 miles because of the break in period and then just every 3k but the manual say diffrent so what do you think should i go with the manual i go with my own oil changes ,i'm gone get the oil and filter from the dealer .let me know you opinion

Follow the manual. At least on the first oil change. Honda puts a "special" oil in there with additives, you want it to go longer than 1000 miles with it so it'll work.

yep, nowadays you don't do the first oil change for like 5,000 miles.

supposedly the manufcaturing process is better where you don't have metal filings in the motors. that's why changing the oil after 1,000 miles was done before.

There are many threads on this....and many different opinions. You can search them out and make your own judgement.

I did my first oil change on my car at 3K and will continue every 3K. That is what I believe in. To each their own.
